 | | RE: Reasons for Using Alternate Browsers I use Avant because this 2 reasons:
[*] It uses the IE engine, which means that most pages in the web will displayed as they were designed (most pages are designed to be well viewed with IE, and their webmasters forget about other browsers). Also, there are pages (like http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com ) that only can be viewed with a IE compatible browser

[*]It has tabs and helps me in having all the opened pages clean and tidy. When I'm at the uni, I use netscape instead of IE just for this reason. Netscape has tabs and IE doen't. It's a feature I like very much.

[*]There are some other reasons more (mouse clicks, etc...), but they aren't as important as those 2 ones. |

 | | RE: Reasons for Using Alternate Browsers I use Firefox 0.8 for many reasons.
It blocks pop-ups , and the many endless possibilities given to me with plug-ins allow all sorts of things. I also find that it loads pages fast than Internet Explorer can and the way it loads images is great also.

I also enjoy the skinnable interface which is a must have for a skin freak like me. And Tabs can't forget them |

 | | RE: Reasons for Using Alternate Browsers I used IE for years, then when .hta exploits and the like started comming out and I could get a virus just by going to a legitimate page, or spyware that was like a plague(CWS -google search it, add's porno crap on every login, almost impossible to get rid of) I used to get a virus at least once every 2 days without even downloading stuff. Then I switched to mozilla suite, haven't had a virus or spyware since. |

 | | O.P. RE: Reasons for Using Alternate Browsers Well, since I'm a tech freak at my school, I use all the best stuff. Basically everything my IT department doesn't support, such as SP2. Boy, am I glad I upgraded when the Sasser virus came around.

The above was . Now onto the real stuff.

IE has WAY too many security holes. I only use it for Windows Update. Since Mozilla is like Netscape on steroids, I don't get nearly half as much crap as my classmates. I've even converted a few over to Mozilla. Also, Mozilla has limitless features, such as tabbed browsing etc.
