...and changing the icon pictures to the XP style.
try! lol you can't... winxp icons are already in the exe, and you can't swap 16 color icons with 32 bits ones... because they have different sizes... and btw thats illegal
Actually, I said "icon pictures". There are images with all of the System Tray icons for MSN (Online, Away, Offine, Signing-in, etc.) which I'm assuming can be replaced by other images. I'm going to download Resource Hacker and export the images and post them. I'll also replace the older icon pictures with the WinXP ones and test MSN out in Win2K mode. I'll then get back to you on it. Also, about that being illegal.. http://http://www.jabinc.cjb.net/
By the way GFD, no hard feelings. I didn't come here to reek hatrid on the forum, if I'm going too far with this please tell me.

RE: NEWS about Messenger 5 and Windows XP
I thought they already corrected the Windows XP Issue... Why was this necessary?
Am I wrong in this assumption
Anyways, if it isn't corrected, then good work! Can you get the Video to work now

LoL your assumtion is correct.. This wasn't necessary. But thanks for the Good Work comment. Will (wtbw) has resolved this issue so we don't need to worry.
Just one more thing I'd like to add before my theory dies: I dom't think MSN5 would work in WinME/98 compatibility mode because there is a special download for WinME/98 on the MSN Messenger site. LoL ok I'm done I'm done.

You were mentioning before something about if XP and MSN5 were being used with MP2, then the icons (little pictures) would revert to their old 2000 selves. I could not find the end result of your research anywhere on the board...can u update me please.
Thanx,
Marconicus

Well, before Will came up with his solution to fix the problem with running MP2 on MSN5 with WinXP (LoL confusing eh?), the only way to get MP2 to work was to change the compatibility mode of MSN5 to Win2000. It then acts as if your operating system is actually Win2000 and you lose the features of Video Conversations, Remote Assistance, and probably some others within MSN Messenger (Not completely off your system). Because it thinks your running Win2000 is also uses the old bulky system tray icons. I simply just replaced them with the newer XP icons.
Please note that this has been fixed, and there was no point to what I did. Thanks.

Pathetic. Making ppl wait even longer for MP2.
Fair enough, ppl might need more time, but whats the point in setting a date to release then changing the date.
Not like patchou at all.
It is even more pathetic to react the way you do.

Preparing Windows XP for MP2
Well, while we wait for Patchou finish his creature, anybody can explain to me the best path on Windows XP?
At this moment I have Windows Messenger 4.7.0105
What need I do? First uninstall Windows Messenger 4.7 and then install MSN Messenger 5? Install MSN 5 without uninstalling Windows Messenger? There are somethink special on MSN Messenger installation? (like Windows 2000 compatibility an so one...)
If someone knows the best path to follow, please....
Josep M.
