nooo
.. owww, people don't understand
I'll explain this a bit:
As you all know (should know), Plus has a command named /me.
What does it do? Well, you can write:
code:
/me is happy
and instead of
code:
Choli says:
/me is happy
you'll see
code:
* Choli is happy
Of course, your contact and you must have plus installed to use the command and see its result. If you have plus but your contact doesn't, then he/she would see
code:
«I is happy»
How does it work?
Let's see: You type
code:
/me something
then plus replaces that by
code:
«I something»
and then plus sends it.
When (at the other side) Plus received a message in the form
code:
«I something»
it changes the way it should be displayed and shows
code:
* Nick_of_the_person_who_sent_the_message something
If the contact who receives the message doesn't have plus, he/she will just see what has been sent, ie:
code:
«I something»
Cookie's suggestion
He says: Instead of sending
code:
«I something»
why not send
code:
«me something»
?
Well, the idea is good, because people without plus would see that and that would make more sense; however people with a non-updated plus would see the same, because Plus wouldn't recognice that as a /me command. That's why I don't agree with the suggestion.

I'm not sure if that would change the text, however you can, instead of writing
code:
/me is doing something
you can write
code:
/me am doing something
What would happen? well, people with plus would see
code:
* Nick am doing something
and that makes no sense.
Conclusion
If you're using the /me command, that's because you want to use an acction command, ie: say something in 3rd person (Choli is bla bla bla instead of I am bla bla bla). And it your contacts don't have plus, well, tell them to install it or live with the fact that some features of plus need that the other contact has plus too (/me commands, colors, formatting (bold, italics,...) automessages, pings, etc...)
