O.P. Storms around the U.K. + other places

Saturday day
Severe gales easing down slowly but staying windy, gales continuing in north. Rain, sleet and snow in north clearing eastwards, all areas then sunny spells, but with wintry showers in the northwest.

Saturday night
Winds continuing to ease down. Showers at first, wintry on hills in the north, then cloud and patchy rain spreading to some western parts.

Last Updated: 4:35 8/1/2005

Sunday
Rain spreading to the west in the morning then central and eastern parts in the afternoon, some heavy and prolonged especially in the west. Becoming windy with gales later especially in the west.

Monday
Continuing windy and very changeable. Longer spells of rain in places at first clearing east then sunny spells. Showers spreading across the north, some heavy, but many southern and eastern parts becoming dry.

I'm not from the U.K. but:

It's stormey (south west, windforce approx.10) outhere in The Netherlands aswell. Sideflap of a truck blew open and the load spread all over the highway..aluminum roofplates were blown off..planes can hardly land or take off..our fencedoor blew open aswell, but we fixed it real soon :D

the winds out here are immense, in the rooms without double glazing, you can actually feel the wind coming into the room through gaps in the window. My room is one of them, the door keeps rattling (i cant close it cos there is a network cable in the way)

The storm has now arrived to Denmark, with the speed of 40 m/s (meters per second).
1 has been killed so far.

Og yea, i'm sure. Some places here in Denmark its 32 m/s, but other places its 40

32 m/s = 115 km/h = 72 mph
40 m/s = 144 km/h = 89 mph

3 people is now dead here in Denmark.

Anyone remember the big storm on the 3rd of december 1999?, there were the wind over 42 m/s

It's been bad here too. We had a 40 car pile-up on the main highway to Vancouver (The Kokahala highway), and a lot of other crashes around town becasue of the snow. People here don't seem to have any winter driving skills so they drive like it's summer AND it's a drag strip and hope for the best :P
