You could start with giving some more details about the error

mölte, check if MSN Messenger is allowed to go on the net in your firewall.

If you don't know how to do that, reinstall MSN Messenger (your firewall should recognize it then)

before the cristmas holidays in germany. the messenger worked.
we've got a firewall   . i can't start the messenger. i've reinstalled the messenger 6 times !!!!

See if you can figure out how to set the firewall to allow MSN Messenger to connect. Look for the applicationslist, MSN Messenger should be inthere..set it to allow. When you first use a program your firewall usually displays a message asking you to allow it or not. If you don't have access to the firewall for whatever reason (restricted account, password) ask the person who does have access to it to set it for you.

i don't know  . our computer is from the german 'landtag' in nordreihnwestfalen!!

It doesn't matter where the computer comes from, it's what you install on it. Do you see an icon in the systray from a firewall, or when you go to start > all programs is there a firewall listed there (Norton)?

Just open the firewall settings up look to see if MSN is blocked or not if it is blocked allow it to run.
