i think supersonicdarky wanted to get rid of all the data on the HDD, not destroy the HDD :P

try the utility posted by wj, this will make the data unrecoverable due to being overwritten by 0's as wj said.

If you don't have any hacker/techie enemies or important information, then just reformating should suffice. Otherwise go for wj's utility, pretty good. Although a deguassing loop works much better IMO. :P

:P same with drivescrubber it overwrites with 0's and/or random #s you have a lot of control over how it does it and can interrupt the process at any time

It's binary, there isn't really a whole lot of numbers that you can use in binary, just 1s and 0s. Unless you use an advanced HDD that stores information in decimal.

Why don't you just backup everything from Windows (or whatever OS you use) before you wipe the disk?

no, i want a program that can recover files that don't get deleted after formating the disk, the opposite of diskscrubber which deletes them
