My friend's having some problems with MSN. She contacted me over Trillian looking for help.

In all of her accounts her contact list just shows the MSN men logo and What the Contact Is Listening To (but not the Personal Message). However, there aren't any Display Names, or the labels "Online, Mobile, and Offline", or even her own Display Name and "<Type a personal message>. The popup notifications don't have text in them aswell. When a Contact tries to send her an IM it says "Conversation with (insert contact here) failed."

She does not have Plus! installed or any other Messenger addons or patches or the like. She's using 7.0.0813 on Windows 2000 Professional.

She has tried reinstalling MSN several times already. Any suggestions?

Thanks, I'll show that to her. However, it says "which makes it unable to sign in." in the description. She is able to though.

There is something else which can cause a problem like that to do with the handwriting plugin, but that needs plus to be installed, which your friend doesn't. More info on that can be found here Contacts! disappear

She had Plus! at one point. But not anymore. That might be it. I'm pretty sure she had the handwriting plugin.

I'll let her know.

Btw, the list cache cleaner didn't solve the problem.

If she had the handwriting at one point, it probably is that causing the problem. The problem occurs because handwriting is now part of the MSN Messenger program, so no plugin is needed.

Hope it solves the problem and be sure to post back whether it works.
