I bought Messenger:Mate a while ago to give it a try and I didn't keep it for long cos there wasn't much special, except for the theming, thats quite cool, but I think it just pretty much patches the exe on Messenger startup, not sure.

From what I've read (actually you started the topic ) it doesn't patch the exe. Here is the thread in question: Theming.

it just shows the low level of respect the author of messenger:mate has. he doesn't deserve the money he gets by selling his add-on.

Obviously none of you have heard of a little thing called propoganda.   If biased comparisons hurt your feelings, maybe you should turn off your televisions and quit reading newspapers and magazines.

you're right, they hurt our feelings. i'm actually now using my wireless connection to post this from my little pathetic emotional corner.
not to mention this is actually something where changes can be made, whereas television/newspapers/radio's are resources we can hardly change.

another thing: it's not because tv/newspapers/etc are biased that you have to be biased when promoting a product.

what on earth are you talking about, of course we are concerned about it because we can make any changes, if we could make changes then we wouldnt be concerned, we would just make then changes :-\

so, erm, where does plus need to display custom names? as far as i can see, the messenger main window, toasts and conversation windows are the only places where you need to show custom names.

You're correct; he made a few changes, but you didn't.  You said you could change it, but you cannot.  You can request that a change be made, but you cannot change it.
