Yeah, make sure your DVD-ROM drive is higher in the "Boot Order/Sequence" than your HDD. The boot order is essentially the order in which your computer will check for something to run. If your DVD-ROM drive is after your HDD then your computer will find windows first and not check the dvd.

If you're not sure about your boot order, then try another disk that you have booted from before (maybe Windows XP or Ubuntu Live). Take note that Windows XP, and probably Vista, show a small message (probably at the bottom of the screen "Press any key to enter Setup ...", and if you don't, the computer boots normally instead of from the CD/DVD.
