O.P. Do nouns have sexes?
Now I have your attention using the word sex is the title I have some crazy stuff to blab about. When you think of certain nouns, well colours and the alphabet, do you associate them to have genders?
I think the colour yellow, and the letter B is a female. Also C is a bit camp, whereas A is very manly. Do you agree and what things to you associate to have sexes?
I've always thought this since I was young. However I believe purple to be a female, but others say it's male.

RE: Do nouns of sexes?
Sounds too much like French with the masculine and feminine, they're just words .

No, I don't think that certain things are masculine or feminine. quote: Originally posted by hmaster

That was probably the strangest thing I learned about the French language in school, and I still don't understand it very well.

RE: Do nouns have sexes?
Certain colours, words or images have connotations of one sex or another within one society, in another the might not... It's a common thought, when yo think of a little baby girls room you think pink obviously, baby boy = blue etc etc... Advertisers often use this to target a market as well, and designers when designing things for a target market. This can be seen as common sense, you wouldnt make a night light targeted for s young boy's room pink and fluffy =p
