Ehh, I was quite curious if this thing actually works so I gave this Notifier script a test by using one of my msn account to open the convo of my other msn account. (Gotta love polygamy)
Apparently, toasts from people of the Newer version (8.1) are false.
Toasts are sent rather, not after they opened the chat window but after they sent you a message ! o_o now That's quite useless isn't it?
Example would be, someone opens up a conversation on you, you dont receive a toast.
Then that same person sends a message to you, you receive the toast THEN you receive his/her message.
8.1->8.1: DOESNT WORK
So then, I thought, well... this script is... quite worthless.
But then, I gave it another experiment... Except this time I used the lovely 4.0 Windows Messenger (which all XP Computers were already equipped in the beginning) to open convo for my other version 8.1 Windows Live Messenger account.
It worked, quite well too. I received an immediate toast on my 8.1 every time the 4.0 Windows Messenger opens up a conversation with me.
4.0->8.1: It worked ? O_O
I did the same experiment with MSN Messenger 6.0, it worked rather fine as well.
6.0->8.1: It worked again! ^^
But with the version 7.5, the toasts were delayed (10~40secs) and sometimes, it even sends out a false toast.
7.5->8.1: Ineffective
Thus...
toasts about people of the MSN version 4.0~7.0 should be the most accurate.
Toasts about people of the MSN version 7.5 would be somewhat accurate.
Toasts about people of the MSN version 8.1 or above would be
false.
This is just my speculation from my experiment. Why am I posting this? Just to warn people who thinks 'Live Notifier' is fool-proof
Amen.
