You assume that these conversations are occuring over Messenger. Maybe he's in a support channel, is a member of another discussion boards, etc.

What I understood from the sentence on the website is one tabbed window and many normal windows, not many seperate tabbed windows, like 2 tabs in one of them, 5 tabs in another one.

Patchou tries to not have the likes of email and PM in a public area so he doesn't get spammed by requests from him.  If you have something to talk about then the forum is a good place to post, I'm sure it can't be too personal and you may actually get a quicker response from another member of the forum.
