First the suggestion: I just opened the log viewer and noticed that I now have logs from 2006 to 2008 saved in there, one folder per month.
Why aren't those log folders sorted chronologically ? In my opinion that would be the better (in terms of user friendliness) choice than sorting them alphabetically in the tree view.

And now the other thing I noticed was that on a PC running a 'german' Windows XP with the English version of WLM installed and the Interface Language set to English in the Messenger Plus! Preferences, the chat logs are still saved in folders named after the german months ('Januar', 'Februar', 'März',... instead of 'January', 'February', 'March'...). Not sure if this can be classified as bug, I consider it a minor inconsistency, just something I noticed.

I've thought about the sorting of the chat log folders as well, and my suggestion would be to use a different naming system, so that when you sort them by name they would be sorted properly, my suggestion is <year>-<month> - <month name>, so it could look like "2007-01 January". Why not an option to customize the way the folders are named?

it's been discussed once or twice before

i'd definitely love it to be done like that, but apparently it's a limitation for a variety of reasons (best pointed out by cookie in at least one of the above threads)

I guess I'll search before posting next time, not afterwards.

I complained about that a while ago aswell. And frankly, it being a technical limitation is not an excuse. It's a serious design flaw. =p

Hmm, based on what I've read in previous threads, I'm surprised this issue is that hard to correct . . . .

There REALLY should be a way to address this problem.

I was wondering by any chance this issue could be database related?

no, as there's no database involved......the problem arises with the way that windows orders folders.....the only way around it is to change the way your log folders get named (possible by registry editing iirc) to yyyy-mm and then they can be ordered chronologically by sorting by name

I'll try to do something for the next version.

or it could just be coded to sort them chronologically....

done . That will be part of Plus! 4.81 which will be released in March.
