there's lots of bugs - I've now discovered that this message sending issue is weirder than i thought. I have it installed on 2 PCs

If i sign in first on PC1 it won't receive messages.
If I sign in on PC2 PC2 will receive messages.
If I sign in on PC1 while signed into PC2 both will receive messages.
If I sign out of PC2 and stay signed in on PC1 then PC1 will still receive messages correctly.

SO it appears that I have to sign into PC2 before I sign into PC1 or PC1 won't work correctly lol.

Goodness knows why that's occurring.

Nice, I'm now having the same problem. My girlfriend's messages aren't coming through in new Messenger. She can do video calls fine. And she can see my messages. But nothing she types is coming through to me. WTF.

has she got 2009 or 2010?

Actually, just found how to turn it off today: just turn off "show expanded footers in conversation windows".

my guess its probably a Protocol change they did in 2010. still seems Alpha Material to me.
