The MSN Butterfly Effect (814 was experimental)

And not by Microsoft. Nor the MSN Messenger team. In fact, the build wasn’t real, at all. Volvok and Ahmad (A-Patch) were kind enough to do a reshack of MSN Messenger, changed the build to 814 and added a couple of “features”. Must say they are very good reshackers though, because even though the build is fake it does run faster (or would that be psychology? ). Wondered why there never was an installer?
The build spread like crazy, as usual. Mess.be kindly “copied’ it onto their front page and Mastaline did the same, without checking with the people who obtained the build. Even the BETA newsgroups were occupied with it for a while, with all kinds of conspiracy theories about MSN Butterflies leaking it and people breaching their NDA’s and what not more. Some BETA tester even reported a stunning 12 bug reports with screenshots and all (ouch!).
And you thought the community was starting to get boring? Dead? Well Volvok and Ahmad proved quite the opposite: It’s alive and kicking and MSN Messenger is still very popular. With their very well planned prank they showed how many people are really involved. I had a good laugh over it, I hope you did too. Oh and you might want to restore to build 777 .
April fools with an extension cord!
(And appologies to those offended)
