What exact actions do you take to go to your profile and what exactly happens? What do you see? Please provide more details.
PS: The version of Messenger shouldn't have any influence on this since your profile is a online service provided by Windows Live, it is not Messenger which controls these things. Messenger simply opens your internet browser and logs you in to your online profile page (http://profile.live.com/). So, even with another version you're still need to go to
http://profile.live.com/ anyways.
In fact, you don't need to have Messenger at all to view or edit profiles.
