I think we are talking about the messages of Plus, not the ones of Messenger, aren't we?
The Messenger Plus messages come back "Contact is now online" for example. The one I think that this convo is about is when you open a new convo window with someone away, at the top it says "So and so may not reply because his or her status is sent to Away."
