Wrong, the early versions of Mozilla were built of netscape, then later on Mozilla was completely rewritten.
Wrong
The old Netscape engine (I don't know if it was all through 4.x or just 4.x) was called Mozilla, and therefore Netscape's rendering engine was Mozilla. It was never based in the Mozilla Suite (which only appeared with the rewrite of Netscape 4, as I said), but in a different rendering engine that coincidentally had the same name.
After Netscape 4's impossibility to innovate because of its codebase, the new Mozilla rendering engine was coded by the Mozilla Foundation, and the open source Mozilla Suite started releasing.

Thats what I've found so far
And that's exactly what I've told you

Am I wrong now saying that Avant is an application which makes IE better, but still uses IE?
Yes. Avant is better than IE, but uses IE's rendering engine (mshtml.dll) to render pages.
quote:
I mean that you're always saying "Don't use Opera! Use Avant!
And where exactly did I say that?
Opera is a great browser, which has since 7.0 an horrible bug that makes it impossible to run in any computer with many fonts or with Adobe's type manager installed, and therefore I have no chance of using it.
Firebox is too simple for me, and Mozilla is too complex.
Avant has all the features I need, renders most pages correctly (because everyone is forced to make them compatible with IE), never caused me any security problems (even though IE is more targeted with attacks due to its user base, I never had any problem), runs fast, is customisable, etc. etc. etc.
I still hate IE because I'm a web developer and have to go through its bugs in a regular basis. Using another browser won't help with that, so I just use what I'm more comfortable with.
No, I'm not lazy to switch, I tested and have installed in the same machine, and use regularly for testing pages:
-IE 6.0
-IE 5.0 SP2
-IE 4.0
-IE 3.0
-Firefox 0.8
-Mozilla 1.6+
-Opera 7.5
And I still prefer Avant. I also tried MyIE, and I prefer Avant.
