As a general note, if anyone else has this problem it is simple to fix (not entirely sure how it occurs, perhaps someone could enlighten me on this)
start up regedit (start->run->regedit)
navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\optimism_ software\aux3\sounds
click on the sounds folder icon and press delete.
Close Regedit at this point
Go to any conversation window and type
/xaureload
or reload plugins or restart messenger, whichever
this will have removed everything. Now you must re-add the soundpacks you want (which will all be in your \plugins\audiator\soundpacks folder and shouldnt take more than a minute or so to do)
