there should be another way to do it... i poked around for a few days, and this is basicially what I came up with (all for XP):
MSN Messenger 5 does not register its own COM objects. It has type libraries in the program, just like Windows Messenger, but the typelibraries are the same, so MSN 5 API goes to Windows Messenger. Changing the registry entry is one method, which works for some and not for others. Another possibly better method would be to add a second API entry with some sort of wrapper. it is definately possible to access the API, since Outlook Express does it...
