Well, to my knowledge, no one has posted about this before. The Chinese directory names could be the problem, but I am not very sure, still :)
Have you tried " 為每個紀錄檔新增一個資料夾 " (Create a different directory for each file) and see if " 七月 2004.txt " files are created under directories named with your contact's email addresses?

Edit: I don't think there should be any problems changing Messenger 5 to 6...8-)
