Isn't Messenger Discover acting as a local proxy? This means that Messenger Discovery (or you manually) probally configured MSN so it connects to a proxy. To fix that, follow these steps:
- Start up MSN 6.2.
- Click "tools" -> "options" -> "connections".
- If there is something filled in there and you don't need a proxy server to access the internet, then uncheck "i use a proxy server" and press "OK".
- Exit MSN and start MSN up again.
- Try to sign in.
