RE: Weird spider in my garden
basing it on it markings, it looks like Araneus diadematus (possibly a female with the size of the abdomen).Anyways its referred to as the Garden Spider or cross spider.This spider is common in woodlands, heathlands and gardens although human activity in gardens discourages them.
