Not when its described as ''simply a small searchbar'.
The easiest way to answer your question is to disable the 'small searchbar' (you know, that silver thing that takes up the entire width of the screen) and nothing else, and see if the popups continue
Of course, you will need to work out how to disable just the toolbar, without affecting anything else, including that damned irritating passthrough bar, not an easy thing for the inexperienced.
I know the answers, I'm simply waiting to see how deep this particular hole goes...
I'm also looking forward, with interest, to Anubis' advice as to how to 'change' the search bar, the pop up advertisements or the passthrough bar (which re-enables itself every time IE is restarted), none of which have a 'turn off' feature.
BTW, do either of you have the Sponsor Program installed? If so, how long have you been using it for?
