You blow my mind. I never knew that. Here, since we never have storms like those when one actually gets mentionned on Canadian news its cus its really big. Other than that.. the lines of a such and such storm happening in such and such state rolls by on the screen and nothing is said.
Yeah, a lot of the storms aren't even worth mentioning to people, if you check out
http://www.weather.com/newscenter/tropical/archiveatlantic.html, you can see which storms and depressions we've had this year. Most of them just stay off the land.
