RE: iPod nano getting "Unknown device" error
Generally if you get this error it is one of two things
1) The drivers are not up to date and or corrupted. You need to look at the manufacturer of the boards website to download updated drivers.
2) The USB Controller on the iPod is foobared and needs to be replaced. Easiest way to do this is just plug the iPod into another computer. Same error its the controller, no error its the drivers.

Doesn't look like there is a USB driver update available.
