There have been problems with such theming applications in the past. Messenger Plus! uses a hooking function to get it's menuitem in WLM, applications with StyleXP can mess this up.
Can you temponary unload StyleXP completely (so go back to Windows default theme and make sure StyleXP is shutdown completely) and see if installation succeeds then and loads?
If that doesn't help you could also try uninstalling StyleXP, reboot and try again.
At least we're sure it is StyleXP then and Patchou can look if it's possible to fix.
