I'm for the method of taking the difference between the numbers vertically. As sortof explained above there are 3 letters between L and H, 5 between W and Q, 7 between V and N, hence suggesting the last gap should be 9. As the letter appearing last in the alphabet is always on the top line I say it's C as well
