I have made a script to be able to send a gradient background (an text as well) using IRC style but it applies to all messages you send too specified contacts.  I'm sure someone could change that part of my script and use a couple of regular expressions to actually make this possible if they thought about it.  Unfortunately I don't have the time to do this, or the knowledge about regular expressions sorry.  Btw, if you wanted my script it is called Gradient.  Hope this helps and I hope someone makes this script idea too
