I think a workaround for offline messaging would be real neat.
I believe it could work like this:
Write up a message in the offline messaging box (that needs to be invented ofcourse ), and specify the recipient of the message.
Then when the intended recepient comes online, regardless of whether u are online or away, the message would be delivered to the recipient saying the message, who it was from and prolly a timestamp.
And then u wud get a return receipt as well.
Alternatively, you could send your message to a bot, who would then pass on the message to ur intended recipient when he/she comes online. This way u dont even have to have ur MSN logged on to the .NEt service to implement the idea.
I really want this feature integrated
Who would be willing to host such a thing?
Simple.. ppl can make up MESSENGER accounts as they wish and make that the address the bot should be contacted at.. spread that (bot's) e-mail within a group of buddies.. and anyone of them who has a DSL or landline.. can host it..
For example I can host a bot for a group of people I know. And u can create a whole different Messenger account to which ur bot will listen and forward offline messages from.
I hope i was clear
