Skinning Plus is not a friendly process just yet as it is works a bit different to how Windows Live Messenger is skinned. It's just a matter of know where things are at and how to work with the interface (which I am still trying to figure out at the moment )
I'm sure in the future we will see some more flexibility when it comes to skinning plus.
