I know this is a late response, but the PS3 hard drive is actually an absolute doddle to remove. Simply prise off the small cover on the left end (viewed from the front), flip the handle up, slide and remove! What's more, is a standard SATA laptop drive
And no warranty stickers need removing.
And I know because I have a PS3, and removed the hard drive, just to see what it was.
