It don't want to turn it off, why is it even there anyway? It seems plus has gone commericial (from reading other posts) Look at that plus games websites, it's got all this stuff about buying credits and what not.

Nobody is forcing you to play the Plus! games in any way! Furthermore, those 'extra' things are not part of the core engine of Messenger Plus!, there is nothing regarding that in the Plus! files you download and install. It are simply extra components, so to speak, you can install and/or allow seperatly.
And as said before, you can turn off the extra buttons (which have been there since a while now) to keep the slick view like it always has been. Nothing is forcing you to have or use those buttons.
