I wouldn't mind overclocking my CPU (AMD Athlon XP 2000+) a little bit, but I don't want to overheat. I have no clue what my CPU temp is, or how to find out. Any suggestions (preferably software based)?

If your BIOS supports it, use Motherboard Monitor (MBM).

Note: Over clocking doesn't just effect temperature - if you overclock it too much you can damage the CPU, shorten its life or cause errors. If you don't know what you're doing, then don't Over Clock your CPU.

My motherboard isn't on there. Hhmm...

And yes, I'm pretty sure I know how to overclock. I've read many things on Newoin and I've gathered up information. Besides, I'm adventurous and I've tweaked MANY things before... even had to reinstall my OS a couple times too

OK, I got it installed. My case temp is 57 degrees (celsius) and my CPU temp is around 40-45 degrees (celsius). I have read that my CPU temp should not exceed 50 or 55 degrees.

Now, just to be sure, I'm supposed to go into my BIOS and increase my Front Side Bus speed a little at a time, correct?

The highest temperature (57 degrees celcius) is always ur cpu (core) temp I thought.......

Well, it says 'Case 57 degrees C' so... yeah.

Not all BIOS'es support overclocking. It depends on ur manufactuer of ur MB if there's overclocking software you can run in Windows.

Is 31 c ok for  hd0 in speedfan ?

and is fan 1 (1.29 rpm)

its not overclocked is this normally

HD0 is ur harddisk. And 31 is fine I think. My hd0 is 42 C.

That fan speed must be wrong... cuz for me Fan 1 (my only fan shown in Speedfan) is my cpu fan and it says 4383 RPM.

I don't know what ur fan 2 is... casefan maybe?

yeh proble is it just  can't find the right rpm most likly

Ya, something's not reading properly (a fan running at 1 RPM would do a whole lot of good )
