I just upgraded to IE7. When I had IE6 all of the menu items , including the address line where in a single line on the top of the browser, leaving the rest of the screen area to display the webpage. Now with IE7 the minimum that you can customize the top of the browser is to have two lines: one for the address bar plus search bar, and a second line for the tabs and additional functions. If I choose to add a menu bar, it will add it as a 3rd line. So end result, I have less screen area left for displaying a webpage with IE7 as compared to IE6. I tried to customize the top menu to fill everything in a single line, but I couldn't. Is it possible? Thanks.

press f11 or switch to firefox

Yes, F11 activates the full screen, but that's not a solution (I want to display a webpage plus top menu). Does Firefox include all menu items in a single top line, like it is possible with IE6?

Yes.

Basically, IE 7 is a fixed design where it allows less customization for users whereas firefox allows users to customize the whole browser to suit their likings.
If you really can't stand the small screen area, it's recommended for your to switch to firefox.

Ive noticed many threads and problems about IE 7. Not a single about firefox2.0 or any that i know about 1.5. Correct me if im wrong

in ff you make icons smaller and remove top toolbar with extensions, and in some skins the tabs are smaller

For you it doesn't matter because you haven't customized firefox, but if you want to change anything, to something like one toolbar with the address bar, navigation buttons and menu options, you need another browser other than IE7. IE7 doesn't allow you to customize the toolbars as the top bar is "fixed" into the window.

The difference is he wanted them on one line.
With registry hacks I was only able to get IE7 to two lines.

Where as with IE6 and Firefox you can get the browser to a single line for maximum viewing and no clutter.

Im not saying IE7 is a bad browser, but it was released to compete against Firefox.

Not everyone has the same preferences.

When you have to hack the registry to
1. Move the Menu bar to the top
2. Remove the seach bar
3. Disable the command bar

There is a problem.
These options should already be there.
When you are squaring off against Firefox, you really cant afford to cut corners in customization.

I know it was possible to do, I did it with the registry.
