a new harddrive is a bit costly just to install the sims though, lol

set main drive jumper to master
set new drive jumper to slave
boot up

that should be it, the hard drive should be auto recognised bu the computer so i dont think you need any BIOS changing

Well if you get a new internal hard drive, you first need to connect it and then follow the instrucions of your motherbord manual how to install a hdd in bios settings (it is different to every motherbord) You also need to format it after you installed it which is also described in the manual of the hard drive.

i take it the picture is ment to be an IDE connector? my IDE wires do have 3 plugs.. 1 motherboard one hdd and one spare..

if thats what you mean

the bios should recognize it plug and play and it should be listed in my computer.

Yes, that's an IDE cable. And the different spacings are representative of the spacings on the cable itself.
