No, I'm not making any dollar directly from the contest pages, actually I'm losing money everytime somebody clicks on the grid (bandwidth...
).
A "small update"? I'm sorry to say things don't work that way, it's far from being that easy and even if it was, I have no interest in updating a software that was put aside more than a year ago, sorry
.
Also, as it's not the first time I read that a "lot" of people are still using 9x/2000 out there, here are the numbers (fresh from this week) :
Messenger Plus users from version 1.xx to 4.xx (basically, what really counts) :
Windows Vista: 2.82%
Windows XP: 95.20%
Windows 2000: 0.89%
Windows Me: 0.26%
Windows 98: 0.78%
And here are the stats from version 1.xx to version 3.xx only (coming from versions compatible with all the old MSN Messenger clients) :
Windows XP: 89.50%
Windows 2000: 4.68%
Windows Me: 1.39%
Windows 98: 4.10%
I invite everybody to link to this thread in the future for similar debates. Basically, the hard fact is: there's not much point in developing public software for anything below XP nowadays.
