everytime i download a skin it says patch problem wth does that mean??????

When installing skins, you need to make sure you are running it on a clean version of MSN Messenger.

If you have patched MSN already, you will need to uninstall MSN then reinstall, then install the skin.

oh so if i got messenger plus and stg i gotta remove it ??/

No these don't need to be removed as they do not patch MSN Messenger. Messenger plus hooks onto MSN messenger.

Patches include A-patch and Mess Patch which you may have run.

Just try uninstalling MSN and reinstalling again which should work.

What skin are you trying to install? Could you give a link.

Also make sure you have the latest version of MSN Messenger - MSN Messenger 7.0813

yup i got the new version adn I'm trying to intal the penguin one

I just tried installing the skin from here http://www.rolandunderg.net/skins.php?act=download&&id=pmsn and it worked fine.

Are you sure you are installing the skin on a clean version. This is the only thing I can think of.

-Go to control panel, then add/remove programs, then go to MSN Messenger and click remove.
-Then reboot your computer
-Next, Remove the MSN Messenger folder in Program Files and in C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Microsoft\MSN Messenger. ( Note: this will remove all custom emoticons etc. To backup these files you can use CE/DP Backup Wizard

Then download MSN from http://messenger.msn.com and install it.

Then try installing the skin.
