Haven't read everything, only half of it, but I have run XP Pro with a PIII 600 and 128 MB RAM. All graphical shit off. It worked fine. But I suggest you use more than 192 MB RAM.
edit: It ran fine, but it was slow. With 'fine' I mean that it didn't take like 5 minutes from boot to logged in

WinXP Home is (logically) cheaper, as it's less advanced.
You need to get the full version for a fresh install; if you have a previous Windows version installation, you could upgrade (although a fresh installation is recommended).
hey, RebelSean, do you care about the price? If you want to choose between WinXPPro and WinXPHome, Pro is better, Home is cheaper. You said you want to 'get' it. Does that mean that you will pay for it? If you do, then buy Home.

Ya, I'm thinkin about gettin it....I have some other stuff I want to get upgraded [offtopic] Like my motherboard, processor..ECT...But on the other hand i have about 1000 to spend on a new comp...Lol I don't know what im going to do yet [/offtopic] hehehe...
