O.P. SP2 & style XP
does any one have SP2 installed and style XP ???

the problem is that my computer is now broken. when i start my computer its gets to the part where it should say windows home loading (with the bar sliding underneath) and then just restarts.  the same happens over and over again.  and the only thing that i can think i have done lately was reinstall style xp after installling SP 2.

so i was wondering 3 things.
firstly- is anyone running both thing and has the same problem ?
secondly- do u think that the problem is something else ?
thirdly- can anyone thing of a way of fixing this ? or will i have to install xp again

I think you'll have to reinstall your windows... but if you want to use visual styles with SP2 use the SP2 UXTheme DLL Patcher

insert the xp installation disk in your disk drive and choose Repair instead of Install

RE: SP2 & style XP
I believe that its caused by the new function in windows... instead of that system file restore thingo.. which used to ask you to insert the windows cd when a core file was changed (uxtheme.dll) it now simply puts the original file back without any prompts or cues... i had problems trying to install the old uxtheme.dll patch because it kept replacing the original.. so i guess the problem is stylexp loads up expecting a hacked uxtheme.dll when it doesn't it crashes the computer and reboots it.... the only thing to do is to replace the uxtheme.dll with a patched one... this should fix the dramas hopefully... rolandos website has the hacked uxtheme.dll if you can't find it
