Yeah, will you CookieRevise it? :p

Edit: I tried taking the original full-quality image and saving it in gif format with the same amount of dithering, and the IE problem seems to be fixed. That's cool, but I don't understand it. :-/

I tried not using dithering, but it looked really bad. :^) The colors weren't smoothly blended... they're "blocky." Does dithering cause that problem in IE?

Example: [Image: attachment.php?pid=345599] (n) (n)

.png File Attachment: topleft_xmas_no-dither.png (6.82 KB)
This file has been downloaded 474 time(s).

Have you tried using a different color selection method (median cut or octree)? Those usually produce nice results with no dithering...

I tried all the methods, and they didn't look nice without dithering. I guess this is just a strange image. :p

Its not. I had exactly the same problem with something i am doing.
My answer was to make a different image for IE and then use php to show the ie image when the user was using IE.
Other wise use the normal image.

The original PNG (without the xmas theme) was also only 8bit, without dithering. Also, choosing the pallette reduction (median cut/octree/etc) is one thing, you can also alter the level of dithering and if needed assign important colors, etc... (all this in PSP, not in PS as that *beeps* fur such palette editing things)

There might be a dark blue line under the snow, but that's just the background image, and looks fine, IMO.
