Stay away from the file extension .pif. That simple

MSNMessengerattach421.exe is a suspected threat that I am currently analyzing and have sent to another researcher to help with.  I believe that this file is a new virus and will post an update when/if confirmed.

the name jus sounds dodgy.... isn't there a way to send it to symantec or someone instead of risking your computer

Thats why VMs were invented, to test stuff.

Don't accept any links from people you don't know, and always make sure that the link has the right extension for the type of file their sending/linking. If they send you a picture and it's a .exe, that should put up a big warning flag. As always, common sense is the best antivirus.
