The adware bundled with Messenger Plus! isn't such a great variable as you seem to think (which is true in other cases, but not for msgplus). The package added when the sponsor is installed is a serious stripped down version; it is the least aggresive of all the adwares that C2Media has to offer (you can even check their list of different adware types on their site lop.com). To explain it with your anology: It is like allowing a thief you kinda trust into your house, but he can only go to 1 room and can't bring any buddies...
PS: the analogy of "thief" isn't correct though, nothing is stolen from you. And certainly not personal stuff. A "door to door salesman" would be more appropiate...
