RE: Burning files to DVDR
I don't think that the Windows XP inbuilt feature supports DVD.

RE: Burning files to DVDR
no it doesn't
the imapi service only covers disk of 650 and 700mbs
you will need a third party program such as Nero, Roxio, Alcohol XXX%, or one of the other lesser known engines

RE: Burning files to DVDR
Well Nero has an overburn feature... to burn more data to the disc / BUT, it is not always safe...
to enable nero 6 -> File \Preferences\ Extra Features \
Enable DVD overburning
Enable generation of short lead out...
Also it is always beter to create, cd's dvd's with Disk at once and not Track at Once as they skip the session headers and stuff that take space on the media...

Window Manager is discontinued, for WLM try the new,
Enhancer for contact list docking, auto-hide, hide taskbar button, remove button flashing and remember keyboard layout in conversation windows

RE: Burning files to DVDR
If WinRAR almost got the files to fit, just try again, the amount of compression you get is never the same, maybe you will be lucky.
You could always burn another disk .

It is always the same! Compression is not a game of chance! When you compress a file and you later compress the original file again with the same settings, it will be exactly the same, bit by bit. Compressing is pure maths, there is no "lucky" factor in it...

Yeap if you want to achieve better results you must adjust Winarar settings (by setting it to make BEST compression, it will take a bit longer but there will be a small % gain... depending on the format of your files everytime..
You should try overburning i suggested above though....

RE: Burning files to DVDR
use winace 2.0 compression instead
it has way better compression compared to winrar, i use it all the time, comparing one 5 mb file i was able to achieve a compressioin of 2mb in winace, compared to 3.5mb in winrar

Sorry. It was like that in my experience, but obviously, I had not kept all the settings the same.

No compression method will be always better than others.
