Katrina supposedly hit Toronto last night and today.. and we got almost no rain where i am. Its ridiculous cus all the weather networks wer calling for thunderstorms all bloody day and then i walk outside and ist sunny and hot out. Not to mention the place where i work lost tons of money cus almost no one came today because of the weather reports. Katrina is dead, shes done her damage.

Like, how often does a hurricain happen, this seems to be big news.......?

When hurricane season starts, they name them starting with the letter  "A." So Katrina is the 11th one this season. They're not uncommon, but it's rare that they do this much damage on the land.

Tropical Depressions and Tropical storms also follow that pattern, so A may be a storm, B a hurricane and C a depression, but yes.

this is actualy reported to be the worst hurricane ever recored

the only thing we got, was along but normal/light rain this morning, and justnore some stronger winds, but only enough to make the trees noiey in the night

You blow my mind. I never knew that. Here, since we never have storms like those when one actually gets mentionned on Canadian news its cus its really big. Other than that.. the lines of a such and such storm happening in such and such state rolls by on the screen and nothing is said.

Yeah, a lot of the storms aren't even worth mentioning to people, if you check out http://www.weather.com/newscenter/tropical/archiveatlantic.html, you can see which storms and depressions we've had this year. Most of them just stay off the land.

Count your blessings that it didnt hit as hard as New Orleans, where evidently looters are going crazy.
