Hey all, I just reinstalled my windows today, im using Windows XP and Microsoft Optical Mouse basic. It worked fine before i reinstalled this windows, but how the wheel of the mouse wont work, ie i cant scroll up or down the page. Please help

did you install the drivers (for the mouse)?

you dont need any drivers for a regular optical mouse (for example logitech's mx1000 needs drivers, since it can operate with additional buttons normally not recognized by windows or other platforms)...

the easiest you can do is check the cable for damages or open the mouse and clean it from dust since the mousewheel is also operating optically and dust could be disturbing it's work...

or your mouse could have a permanent flaw if it's been damaged mechanically (fell down etc)...

What applications is it not working in? Can you middle click?

It may be even that the mouse is broke due to dust clogging it up.
