Meh...

You could set the firewall not to do that.
If it doesn't block "nearly everything," what's the point of using a firewall?

I think it just makes everything slow for my old computer, especially when I run the tune up thingy. Plus it adds tons of processes.

The point of a firewall is to block trojans and worms and normal viruses not to block msn and internet explorer etc lol

I don't know.

Blocking trojans, worms, and viruses are done by my antivirus.
From what I know, firewall doesn't block viruses, maybe yeah for trojans.
I really don't know. I always keep my computer clean, so I don't have lots of experience of being attacked.

Firewall blocks (ingoing and outgoing) access made by malware.
This I know for sure.
So, it blocks and is made to be capable of blocking programs.

I block my IE and Windows Messenger.

Considering Microsoft are new to this field, it's a decent program. However, as many people will tell you, it does not detect viruses too well. However I can see this taking off in the future, and outdoing AGV and other free anti-virus programs, it's Microsoft after all, they usually do try and make their software as good as they can. The exception being IE, up to now, however they are even trying with that now.

I can't see them outdoing McAfee or Norton, they've owned this market area for so long, and they are the most experienced also.

At the present time, it's not for your average home user as it isn't that reliable; of course it's better than nothing. However there are better free alternatives out there.

I been using Windows OneCare Live since the beginning and it seems fine here.. apart from when people send me .wav files on MSN Messenger it blocks them.

Oh and the tune up gives me the blue screen of death :refuck: Grr..

To me, security is very essential, so I don't really get annoyed by the messages; instead, I feel safer.

You guys are reacting too violently on this new beta product; if you think about it, this public beta was just released not a while ago. Maybe it really isn't good now, but remember, it's still only a beta!
