how good are 1&1 for domains - ONLY domains! no hosting

I recently purchased a domain only from them, pointed it at my own webspace, and so far its been flawless.

Was a fairly rapid service, only slightly delayed because I was messing around with my DNS settings before it had fully gone through!

They seem to be cheapest for the .co.uk domain, and as I say works fine. So overall, they get a thumbs up from me

I know a lot of people who use these guys and it seems to be a reliable service.  Although the hostings on a bit of an expensive side

i dont want hosting - just  a domain - i got a choice of 2 - 1&1 and anoteher 1 - not sure of their name ATM.

I'm afriad I actually had quite a negative experience with 1&1.  They managed to "loose" my request for the domain not to be automatically renewed so as I could re-register it somewhere else after it had expired.  Subsequently they charged me another years registration on the domain.  Although it wasn't a large amount of money to pay, the principal of having to pay for something I had cancelled put me off somewhat.
