Hi, I'm having a slight problem with my MSN list. I blocked one group from my list, using the Plus command /blockgrp etc.. but when I unblocked them and exited my msn.

The next time I signed in, that whole group was still blocked, and I exited again and tried to sign in. Same thing happened. It keeps resetting to old "blocked contacts"

I uninstalled MSN, Messenger Plus, and MDX it's still the same, anyone know how to fix this?

The same occurs with my DP, it keeps resetting to an older DP I had set, even if I change it.

I too am having this problem an am very curious on how to fix it as it is driving me nuts.  Mine is only with the contacts and DP is fine.

I wrote MSN as it seems to be their error, not one with Plus!  This was there response.  It didn't work for me so I have to write them back but here is what they said anyway;




The following condition may apply:

The same contacts are on your My Allow List and on your My Block List.

Try the following solution:

-Delete the contact from your My Block List:
a. On the "Tools" menu, click "Options," and then click "Privacy."
b. Select the contact in the "M y Block List," right-click the contact, and then click "Delete."

Note: You may not be able to delete the contact if you are on the contact's "My Allow List."

Now, this may sound a little stupid, but I have found that some settings are not always saved if you "Exit" MSN Messenger, or Windows Live Messenger for that matter. So, sign out, then exit messenger and hopefully your settings should be saved.

It most probably is a server problem with MSN Messenger and not Messenger Plus!. Using this technique is the only way I can help you

Its deffinately a fault in a WLM as some of my contacts using it have the same problem when changing thier name and personal messages. Also it seems to happen to other peoples names in thier contact list as well! i think they might have fixed that bug in the last beta though it seems to have moved onto the dp and blocked settings!

i think you will have to wait untill the fix it for the final release!

And save you settings like absorbtion sugested!

It still happens on sign-out alone.

I'm also NOT using WLM, but regular MSN Messenger 7.5

Try the same but uninstall Messenger Plus! before hand. If the problem still occurs then it is an MSN Messenger bug, or temporary server issues in your area. Sorry I cant help much more. You could try MSNServersX to connect to a different server, however I doubt this would do much.

I have the same problem recently. I use msn 7,.5 though. (i downgraded from windows live messnger)

Also it takes alot of time to sign in. Like over a minute which is about 5 times as long as it used to take.

Hmm.. so I didn't go crazy ahh well.

Anyways I have a solution for some other people, the WLM beta version fixes the problem. If you unblock the contacts and "sign-out" it  will be remembered and saved.

But in the MSN 7.5 version this is sadly not the case. I think it's becuase of switching servers? or whatever they are switching for the release of WLM.
