O.P. Math Program
I used to have Mathtype which I quite liked but I'd rather have a free program. What I would like to know is, are there any free math programs out there (for special math characters and etc)? If so, which ones?

I'm not sure what Mathtype does, but I assume you want to markup some mathemathical things etc?

You can try OpenOffice.Org, there's a very nice editor included (OpenOffice Math).

You could use Excel, or maybe I misunderstod, even so, I would recommend u to use anything else but Microsoft Office... My opinion though :)

For occasional use, you could use the Equation Editor included in Microsoft Office (a free and basic version of MathType). Additionally, the editor in OpenOffice seems quite nice.

I had the equation editor at some point, but right now I'm using the 2007 beta of office so I'd rather not take any chances. As well I don't want to install open office just for this.
